Happy Anniversary to this Angsty Second-Chance Romance!

Super hard to believe but a year ago, Ivy and Gabe’s story was released. And you know, I’m not sure you are supposed to have favourites, and this is funny considering the roller coaster I went through while writing this book, but I think that maybe, just maybe, Flame Again is my favourite book.

I like that Ivy is independent and speaks her mind. That out there, she is intent on climbing the corporate ladder. That she’s a plus-size woman but makes no apologies for it. I love her wit and how much she loves Gabe.

And I think what I love most about Ivy is that when her life starts to crumble, she takes charge and saves herself. Is there such a thing as a reverse damsel-in-distress romance? I think Flame Again might be a poster book for it if there was.

A Spicy Bonus Scene – Grab it here

Feeling kind of scrambled this week, my ability to focus has seemed to go out the window. It’s probably the downtime after the holidays and the gearing up for a release and everything but this week’s been a little bit low on the word count.

And maybe it’s feeling self-conscious about having another book out in the world.

Anyways, if you haven’t grabbed the bonus scene from Flame Again, That Night At Club Bandit, follow the link below and it’s yours.

He wants to make her a gingerbread princess.

Hello everyone! I am here with too little coffee, way too little sleep and wind-burned cheeks from being at the ice rink yesterday.

Not that I skated, I watched, and you know, I think I got the colder side of that deal.

Super excited to be finalizing the outline for Book Five today, in the blocked-off-time-for-this-reason I made, and beta feedback is coming in on Flame True.

I can’t wait to share Nick & Mulberry’s story! They like good banter, and they are so perfect for each other… just a few more weeks.

Ah! Chasing Words. Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit! Happy November!

This week, I felt like I was in some kind of time warp with the weather! 20C in November? Yeah, I’ll take that. Last year my cubs were trick-or-treating in an ice storm. This year, they did it in sweaters.

And maybe that’s why I’ve felt a little off, a little split-focused, chasing the words, getting the edits done on Flame True, to realize that I need to adjust to make something work for Book Five. The downside of being a plotter/planner is that when you outline to ensure there are no plot holes, fitting in something unexpected takes some mental gymnastics. I am a plotter AND an intuitive writer, and I don’t know how it gels, but it just does, and I am so grateful to be writing.

If you click to Get Sexy Tonight, you’ll find plenty of erotica and erotic romances up for grabs in this month’s group promotion.

Here’s a snippet of Flame True, and it is on preorder for $2.99USD right now

Midweek Roll

I went down a rabbit hole trying to answer the question, “how does your disability affect your writing?” First off, which one? *grins.* It’s almost an impossible question to ask because there is no separation between me and my disability. It’s just there; it makes certain things “harder” than my peers or for me to obtain society’s standards, but it’s not an easy thing to break down.

However, for me, formatting is on that list. This is something I want to get better at, and I find it a challenge and I know other people do too, but this is something that because of my disability it’s challenging because I don’t have the base skills and numbers are not my thing; I can’t number as part of my disability, and right and left and directions and inches and centimetres, and all of that ties into graphics and formatting. See? Clear as mud.

Ivy Whitaker has some serious writing skills. Her world-building and emotionally gripping and introspecting characters are off the charts, and I am so humbled by her review of Flame Again. It’s really nice when your peers say kind things about your work, and I weigh it slightly differently, you know? I am near the end for Dax and Gardenia and I must get words down on that story today. Now that I’ve gone this far with them, I don’t want to leave them but I want readers to fall in love with their figuring it out, as much as I have.

And Monday.

So this week, my household’s usual routine is thrown in the mixer as half of the members are away. I feel utterly exhausted at the moment and by the day, but it was fun and sound and a lot more quieter than I am used to.

And somehow, I managed to get 15k down, which is fine but I feel like I have been on this chapter forever. Gardenia is about to tell Dax her past; it’s not the only secret she’s hiding, but it’s a start. Got a lot of ground to cover in one weekend, you know.

And I have to constantly remember not to forget Gardenia’s cat Snowflake. And on twitter, I called her Snowball…oy. Most of my characters do not have pets and I kind of prefer it that way, though pets are fun and require no character arc/development plot.
Going to try to finish up this chapter and start at a new page for tomorrow.

Down the River

I’m still buzzing from the release of Flame Again. If you bought it, thank you so much! It means so much to me that readers are reading my stories.

This morning, pre-coffee, I logged into ‘Zon and went to my KDP dashboard and got the message, “You have no books published.” What? Excuse me, mighty river, I just had a book out less than twenty-four hours ago! Where are my books? A few thousand deep breaths later, I realized I was logged into an old account, that I used to use a decade ago and that’s where I had clicked on my most recent book purchases. Those purchases also weren’t showing up.

I have no idea why that happened and this is the second time this year I’ve needed to cancel this account; I used to review under this account, a long, long time ago, but nothing was showing up. So after I did that, I found my way back to my author account and I re-purchased the last three books I had 1 clicked on because I couldn’t find the trail to those on any card/account, one of those books being F*ck The Patriarchy: Getting Smutty for a Cause.

Whew.

That was an hour of anxiety-inducing I could have skipped. But I got my coffee and cannoli and I’m right back to work on Nick & Mulberry’s story.

Hope you have a good Sunday, friends!

Release Day for Flame Again!

I am so thrilled Flame Again is out in the world! I am excited to share Gabe & Ivy’s story and hope readers fall in love with them, as I did… eventually. Though this book was a  trial to write in the end, I am delighted with how it came out.

Thanks so much to all my readers, ARC Readers, betas and cheerleaders. This indie author thing is a grind at times and all of the support keeps me going. The buy link for Flame Again is here. And if you want to read the first chapter it’s here. And content warnings can be found here.

If you do give Flame Again a read, I hope you find something in it that you enjoy.

Thoughts on Words And Labels and Feature Friday

By the end of today, the ceiling should be fully repaired. It is really nice not to worry about old plaster falling on our heads while we sleep.

And I’m thinking of a conversation I wadded in yesterday and how I’ve had editors tell me in the past, “if you have to explain the word you are using, you need a different word.” So that’s why I used “disabled.” I am over being personally offended by other language but for example, if I write my MP about being “differently abled” then I have to spend more time explaining what that means. When the word disabled covers it. Also, it took me a long time to be okay with using the word disabled as part of my identity.  I think whenever people remove the term ‘disabled’ and try to replace it with another word, they are glossing over society that is the problem.

Anyways, Flame Again comes out tomorrow and I am so thrilled to share Ivy & Gabe’s story! I need to get some words down on Nick & Mulberry today … I feel very nervous about this slow burn thing. Do they have enough tension? Enough angst? And I want to tap out some words on Gardenia and Dax. Oh, did I mention that Gardenia is getting her own story? And Dax is one of the new recruits of Team Stealth because they are down manpower and Xander is going to need more bodies if he wants to keep up with the private operative stuff and of course, he does. Dax and Gardenia are going to be a fun, short story and when it’s finished my newsletter people will get it first. That’s also my “carrot” for today when I’m done creating the angs with Nick & Mulberry because sometimes you need more than coffee.

Cover of Midnight Sin by Morgan Elliott

Have you ever had the person you were meant to love reject you? I have, and honestly? It sucks. Alex Dunn was supposed to be my mate, but I have a past, and he kicked me to the curb as soon as he learned about it. So much for fate.

How did I handle it? I ran away, searching for a place where I could just be Amber, instead of Amber Tremaine, Homewrecker. But the new life I built for myself came crashing down when my dad died. While reeling from the loss, I have to face the pack that hates me and the mate that rejected me, and honestly, I am so not ready.

When I return, some things are exactly as I expected, but others are wildly different. For one, Alex is… nice to me. The way he’s acting tells me he might want to give us a try. However, from the things I’ve been hearing, he has a new woman in his bed every night. Couple that with the fact that he shamed me for sleeping around? Trusting his sincerity is pretty impossible.

Not that I have much time to process my ex-mate’s strange behavior, because my past is coming back to bite me again—literally this time.

Lyle is the vampire who took my v card, which would have been much more enjoyable if he hadn’t tried to murder me right after. Nobody is perfect, right?

His failure to kill me has turned into a creepy obsession that spells out danger for me, my pack, and the entire werewolf species as a whole. The only person who can save us all? Yeah, you guessed it. It’s me—the girl who messes up everything. No pressure.

Not Beating the Heat

If you’re in a heatwave, especially in a place that doesn’t usually have high temps, I’m sorry. It’s awful. I hope you’re staying cool and getting through it and I wish I could send coll breezes through the internet.
We have had a few days of high temps here 30C but we’re more prepared for it-ish and usually, the temps drop here at night. What makes it a heatwave here is that those temps didn’t drop but today it’s down to 23C and rain is expected.

There was a time, before cubs where I loved, loved the heat but ever since being a person who used their body to feed their cubs….nope, can’t take it and I don’t like what the heat does to my body…so yesterday wasn’t a productive day.

But today I am on my second cup of coffee and I am trying to knock off some words on Nick and Mulberry. They’ve just decided that pretending to date is beneficial to all and now they are going to a big fancy thing and they are fighting the mutual attraction, I mean they can try and all. Nick is gonna be so surprised when he finds out what Mulberry’s been hiding. I mean, she has a few secrets but one of them is gonna topple his world and I can’t wait to get to that part.
