Finishing with Flaws

There are two points I come hard against while finishing a book.

One is, knowing when not to touch it anymore. Like, just don’t

Could something be better? That’s a never-ending pile of always. But if I just fix this one word…don’t. Knowing when to “don’t” is hugely important.

Set it to formatting, get it out in the world, and be done.

And the second point is where I ask my betas: “This isn’t even a book. What is this book about?”

Thankfully, I have peers who pat me on the head and say, “You do this with every book.”

We have reached these points with Sasha and Finn and here is something that I realized, with the comments from one of my amazing betas.

I have a thing for the flawed character.

I talked about it here with this post: The Flawed Character Who Doesn’t Apologize, meet Quinn Walsh  but it’s taken to this book, book number whatever (still not sure how Sasha and Finn’s book is going to be numbered) to realize that it’s a thing that is through all my books and I like it.

Their flaws don’t get worked out and in the next book where they are mentioned, they are still their flawed selves, even while living their Happy Ever After.

In Flame For Chance, it is Finn Kraweic who has it together.

Okay, his heart is hurting but he pretty much has it together: a secure job, property, got friends, all those things that tend to make up “stability” and it’s Sasha, with her pesky problem of running out the door when things get too tense, uncomfortable or just because there is a door, who is flawed.

And maybe typically, it’d be expected that the Dom has beat this out of the bratty submissive. Sasha is a brat.
Finn is a Dom but he accepts her shortcomings.

I mean, he punishes her for her behaviour (that they agreed to, consensually) but helps her get to a better place to work it out…but she’s working it out. And when I started to worry if readers would accept this, if they’d expect her behaviour to change, for her to stop doing it…I pressed the button to send it to formatting. Because she is working on it…not perfect.

Anyways, Flame for Chance drops soon and I am so thrilled to have the next Bandit Brothers book out!

(soon, soon)

No signs of melting …

Two things over the weekend that came across my feed that made me laugh-cry.

The first, being asked, “Do you see signs of spring?”

Um…not unless it’s under all that fresh snow… and then it dawned on me that it’s only the second month of the year and I don’t know why it has felt like a very long month, maybe because of all that snow and cold, it definitely had something to do it.

And the second….a Tiktok of someone going to the grocery store to prove inflation. I’m watching in that way that you have fallen into a TikTok rabbit hole and thinking, “this must be a spoof.” because it seemed like everything in that store was on sale – before realizing it was an American store.

Meanwhile, I paid about $8 for four apples the other day…so I’ll just sniffle a little in my coffee cup.

When you reach for the wrong bottle…

You know what kind of day you’re having.

A, “I’m in physical pain but want these edits done and omg the people that belong to me are um, you know…” But you’re finally in the shower, for a few moments of peace, where because you finally have a few moments of silence, your thoughts start to fill in.

This can’t just be me, right?

And you’re so caught up in your inner world, finally re-connecting to it and you reach out for what you think is the really nice conditioner and it’s not. It’s the super strong body wash from one of those people that belong to you and yick.

So then you spend a whole lotta time rinsing that out of your hair and wishing you were kind to drink or wear fuzzy slippers or something btu then you remember the dark chocolate-covered dried cherries and the fuzzy socks and it’s so bad and you order a hair mask because, your hair needs it after that, honestly.

If you read on your phone and a teaser….About the brat

Coming in quickly because I need to take a painkiller and rest this shoulder (le sigh).
But I wanted to let you know, if you read on your mobile through Google Play Books, if you buy any two of the Bandit Brothers books, you can save 15% percent, which is a pretty decent deal. Click here

Sharing a teaser from Flame For Chance, Sasha and Finn really get into it. I love their banter- even if some of it makes me cringe, truth be told.

Could he trust her to cool the brattiness ; quote from Flame For Chan

Getting Ready for the Surprise Release

This sunny and bright (and very cold) start of the week finds me finishing up a spring clean that I started on Friday because again, the house demanded attention and I know I’d have a better week if I just got to it and cleaned all the things. Sasha and Finn are patiently waiting for edits and then I’ll get back to Kayleigh and Erik.

I hit the pause button on Sasha and Finn for a few reasons last year but I’m so happy I decided to put Book Five to aside and give them attention- especially and this is kind of the weird part- the edits have been done and basically, it’s one more pass. Weird, because things like that can get in my writer’s brain.

I need to dash back to the house and it’s demands, hope the start of your week is a good one, friends!

All Eyes On Her: Have You Read This New Steamy Bonus Scene?

The delusion that winter is over is continuing with some slight proof. The temps promise to be the highest we’ve had since October tomorrow and I can’t wait! Going to ignore that it’s a mess of frizzy drizzle out there.

This week finds me putting Book Five aside because I decided a surprise new Bandit Brothers book release would be fun! And it’s not that big of a surprise if you’ve been hanging with me for a while but I feel at this point, it’d be a good book to fit into where we are now in the series. So Sasha and Finn are finally going to see the light of day, as soon as I can get through these edits.

I realized over the weekend, that if you have a certain type of mailing address, my newsletter hasn’t reached you! I know my newsletter readers don’t always like to be in more than one place (like Facebook for example), but I’m hoping this may reach some readers and I’ll include it in the next newsletter on the 28th, just to be sure. Sometimes, we have to put things out in the world twice.

It’s View and Play night at Club Bandit and all eyes are on Mulberry as Nick gives her exactly what she craves, in Flame True’s bonus scene.
This scene is sizzling with consensual spanking/paddling in front of an audience and sexy times in the back seat of a car. Want it? Click here to get All Eyes on Her, Flame True’s bonus scene.
Thank you for making the release day of Flame True, awesome!

Contemporary Romance New Releases and Free Steamy Reads for February

Approaching this Tuesday with too little sleep and too little coffee.
The coffee I can at least refill.
I can’t do much about the sleep or the endless falling snow, except light some candles in my workspace and try to make it a little less deary feeling.

My newsletter readers can look forward to a new short from Xander, Harper, and Logan this month. I really can’t get enough of them and there might, might maybe be a novella in the works.

But right now, I’m deep into Kayleigh’s world and finishing Book Five.

But first, more coffee.

Check out these new releases from January and February and these Free Sexy Reads in this group promo and share the love!

When you fill out a form like this

The eve of a new month getting us slightly closer to spring and warmth in my corner of the world (though there still can be plenty of ice and snow between now and then) started off with frigid temps today.

And like I’ve scrawled about on here before there are times when my disability makes indie publishing challenging. Harder? I don’t know. Frustrating, I think frustrating is a good word and one of those times happened today when I realized I filled out a form.

Filling out forms are kind of hell on my brain and it is what it is – maybe I’ve missed out on this opportunity maybe it’ll get corrected but it was something that ate up my time and wouldn’t have been an issue if my disability didn’t make it a thing.

Ah well, all I can do is keep writing. Getting into Kayleigh’s story and wow! I’m so happy about this book and I hardly ever say that until it’s done. It’s not done but I think it’s going to be my favourite.
That I do say, pretty much with every book.

Making the words go…

This Monday finds me a little sluggish – I mean, that’s because all the people in my house woke up earlier than usual and I hurriedly drank down my coffee instead of sipping it while checking email and getting to words- and a little cold, but it’s winter and there is much more of it to get through.

But words need to get down.

Nick and Mulberry are on stage at Club Bandit. Is it demo night? Is it a small private gathering? is it a crowd on a regular night? And Nick Laurent keeps his word, so he’s giving Mulberry what he promised.

This bonus scene will be shared with newsletter reads first, this Friday and then up under the bonus content tab, afterwards.

If I can just make the words go.

Mulberry gets her HEA! Happy Release Day, Flame True!

Don’t you think Mulberry deserves a HEA?
I did!

What I like most about Mulberry is despite all of it, she decided to wrap it around her like a shield and go, “Hell no, I’m not getting shuffled off somewhere. Bring it on.”

I have a certain fondness for those kind of vibes.

And Nick needs someone. Not just because his family is oh-so-subtly-nudging but because he has a big heart under all that aloofness and he wants someone to take care of and love.

Eventually (slow-burn) they figure it out.

I am so delighted to share Nick and Mulberry’s story! If you read it, please consider leaving a review.
